After the misadventure at Hampton Court Palace, the London Bus makes a solemn promise: he will never, under any circumstances, drive into a building again.

Then the Queen sends them both an invitation to tea at Buckingham Palace, and the promise lasts roughly as long as it takes to read the envelope.

One small problem

The Bus is too big. He needs to be resized, and resizing a Routemaster means asking the Magician with the 1000 Hats — a man whose spells are enthusiastic rather than accurate — to step in before a royal invitation turns into a nightmare.

Another invitation follows, this time to a royal horse-racing event, where the London Bus gets unexpectedly horsed around and Beatrice becomes, of all things, famous. After that the sky is the limit. She arranges a bizarre exchange programme between Westminster Palace and London Zoo, which short-sighted MI6 promptly ruins, and there is more trouble brewing in the city: the London Eye has fallen out with the fiery Mayor and gone on fun-strike.

Beatrice must settle the argument and win the best cabin party in the sky, before the impossible happens.
